“We believe that the best way to make people feel well at work is by empowering them to become the engineers of their own wellbeing.”

Whilst looking after our physical health is vital, looking after our mental health also plays a key role in our ability to maintain good physical health. At Gympass, we are on a mission to ensure that we support both aspects of both physical and mental wellbeing. Mindshine, a new Gympass Wellness partner, is a digital coach for a healthy mind – designed to help people thrive and improve overall wellbeing.  We recently caught up with Stephan Hauner, the CEO of Mindshine, to find out more about why he created Mindshine and what his thoughts are on for the future of employee wellbeing.

Hi Stephan, great to meet you! Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hi my name is Stephan – personal growth enthusiast, basketball nerd, proud dad and founder of Mindshine. I have a passion for building digital products that enrich peoples’ lives.

Why did you create Mindshine?

The idea came to my mind when I was an executive Freeletics, one of Europe’s largest fitness apps. There the vision was to help people become their greatest version. While physical fitness is super important for your health and wellbeing, the mental side is equally (if not more) important to live your best life. Eventually, I left Freeletics with the mission to create a world where training the mind is equally accessible, simple & sexy as training the body. The first step in this direction is Mindshine, a personalized training app for the mind.

What motivates you in life?

I’d say it’s three things that really get me excited: purpose, progress & feedback.

Since I’ve been working on Mindshine, every morning I get up feeling excited to take on the day’s challenges. The main reason is that I get to work on an idea that I full-heartedly believe in and identify with. Seeing this “baby” grow, and how new features or improvements have a direct impact, feels truly rewarding and I am very thankful for that. Every week we receive a bunch of user feedback. Most of it is so heart-warming and some of it really gets me thinking about how we can improve. At the end of the day, we are building Mindshine for them and it’s great to feel connected with our users.

How can Mindshine support our mental wellbeing?

We believe that the best way to make people feel well at work is by empowering them to become the engineers of their own wellbeing. When we don’t feel well from the inside, all the great external measures like fancy office spaces, free lunch & matcha lattes are just a drop in the ocean. According to recent research, 61% frequently feel stressed and 66% say that they don’t feel that work and life are in balance.

Things like self-confidence, motivation, resilience, emotional intelligence, productivity, efficiency, creativity, or positivity – they all begin in our minds. Mindshine provides the most effective mental fitness techniques based on Positive Psychology, Leadership Coaching & Mindfulness. Tailored to the individual goals needs of the user, delivered in uplifting, easy-to-follow 10-15 minutes daily bites, with the flexibility to train anywhere at any time.

At Gympass, we are on a mission to improve employee wellbeing across the globe. What do you think the future of wellbeing will look like?

I strongly believe that rather sooner than later “mental fitness” will be an integral part of our daily health routine just like physical activity and healthy eating. I’d love to also see it deeply weaved into the entire education system from kindergarten to universities so that every human being gets trained in the mental skills they need to believe in themselves, move forward towards their personal goals while enjoying the moment.

Finally, can you tell us a quote that you live by?

“The limits of your mind are the limits of your world”.

Thanks so much, it was great to find out a little bit more about you and Mindshine!
